It was one year ago today that our world turned upside down. Mackenzie was diagnosed with osteosarcoma on her front right leg. I was in shock when I got the news and then when the vet told me that amputation was one of the few options available I just gasped! What?! Amputation?? Never in my wildest dreams would I have ever comprehended that this was one of few treatment options available for osteosarcoma. Just couldn’t imagine…. So here we are celebrating 2 monumental events – 1 year since her diagnosis and 10 months since her amputation!!! I never thought I’d see this day! So today in celebration we are hanging by the pool, Mackenzie’s favorite activity besides going in the car, eating lots of treats and exchanging lots of hugs. I am forever grateful for this day as we’ve come so far in our journey.
I also wanted to share my beautiful T-Shirt that Chloe’s Mom designed. I am so proud to wear this and display for all to see. What does that mean exactly? Well I’m even going to be brave enough to post a picture of me with my goldens wearing it! It’s just beautiful and holds so much meaning for me – thank you Chloes’ Mom – you are an incredible talent! I’m also attaching a beautiful illustration of Kobe that Chloes’ Mom sent with the T-shirt that I will forever cherish too.
I also have one more thing to share – one of Mackenzie’s favorite Golden friends, Murphy, who lived across the street, passed away at the age of 11 of hemangiosarcoma this past week. It was so sudden and so heartbreaking. He holds a very special place in our hearts and I just wanted to dedicate this post to Murphy and his family – he was our neighborhood’s perfect golden boy and will sorely be missed!
Thank you Tripawds for all of your support! I feel so blessed to be part of such a loving community.

A ten-month ampuversary. That is inspiring. Beautiful pictures of you and Kobe and of course, MACKENZIE! And that t-shirt Chloe’s mom designed – stunning.
So sorry about Mackenzie’s friend Murphy, particularly the suddenness of his passing. Just another poignant reminder to savour each moment.
Sending hugs and kisses to Mackenzie.
Finally we get to meet Kami!!! What an awesome shirt!!! I have been very lax in posting, summer just seems to have taken up a lot of my time these past few months but everyday you have been in my thoughts!
I am so very proud of you Mackenzie for reaching this huge milestone. 10 months is just the best and I know that you will achieving many more to come.
Sending you all my love from across the border
Your adopted Aunt Darlene (Angel Tehya’s Mom)
Congrats on the milestone. It’s amazin how precious the gift of time becomes with your best buds. Sorry to hear about the murph, but I’m certain he is still tail wagging somewhere out beyond us.
All the best, Rosie
So glad you are wearing your shirt!!! Looks good!!!!! I hope you don’t think I am weird when I tell you I still have the picture of Mackenzie on my wall that I printed out for your shirt. Seriously I fell in love with all the dogs that I did a shirt of. I took a picture of my wall above my desk and put it on my blog because it has Mackenzie, Chloe, Max and Fortis’s photos on it. I get to see their smiling faces everyday!
I call it Chloe’s Tripawd family 🙂

Chloe’s Mom – you could never be weird in our eyes! That sounds like a beautiful montage of pictures to look at every day!
Ohhhh Mackenzie, your amazing year is an inspawration to all, we are thrilled for you and your pack! Congrats! You all look so hoppy and so fabulous in your Tripawds gear. Chloe’s Mom is just amazingly talented and generous. What a wonderful family!
We’re sad about Murphy too. In a sad coincidence, Tripawd Maggie also has a friend who just passed from osteosarcoma. I wish cancer would just go away darnit.
Keep kicking cancer’s butt girlfriend, we love you!
Yips that’s great news Miss Mack! I got a strawberry sundae in the freezer I’m getting out so I can celebrate!
Oh look! It’s Miss Mack’s and Kobe’s mom! WOOHOO! My mom said she met her but now I know what she looks like!
But she said you were missing a tooth, Miss Mack’s mom but I don’t see it.
Oh wait…Mommy is telling me something. My mistake! She said, “Mommy was missing a tooth.” I thought she said, “Kami was missing a tooth.” (My hearing aint so good anymore)
Chloe’s mom – NAILED IT!
So long Murphy – it’s very sad for those of us left behind. Find my Rugby so you guys can be pals and swap stories. If you can’t find him, just listen for the loudest dog!

What a great accomplishment, Miss Mack. You give us all inspawration. We are so sorry to hear about Murphy. He sounds like a wonderful neighbor. Try to enjoy what’s left of the summer. By the way, tell you mom she looks great in her shirt.
The pictures are great! I love the new shirt that Chloe’s mom did for you. You guys sure look like one big happy family. Thanks for sharing.
I’m sorry to hear about Murphy. RIP sweet Murphy.

Mackenzie and I must be cut from the same cloth…I too just want to hang by the pool as my favorite activity, a close second is also eating treats. Man, I wish we could all hang together. I bet it would be fun.
Congrats, Mackenzie, on all of your big accomplishments! What an amazing achievement, not just for you, but for your entire family.
Enjoy and celebrate!!

Congrats!!! What happy news. Mom hasn’t been reading the blogs lately because they were so depressing and for some reason she is catching up on a few today so I get to send my comments. I think she needs a tripawd fix because yesterday would have been Peyton’s 1 year ampuversary. We are really excited for you and your family. We are celebrating you on our end! Maybe we can get some ice cream or lots of treats! We will be thinking of you when we eat them. You need to go ask for more treats-you deserve it! Keep up the good fight!
XOXO

I haven’t logged in in quite some time. But I think of you guys often. You were so encouraging to me the day Rosie had her amputation now 6 month ‘s tomorrow!
Mackenzie and Rosie were diagnosed it seems around the same time last year. We found out last Aug. but we didn’t amputate right away. We tried a limb sparring treatment with Radiation and her leg ended up fracturing and we amputated latter in March 2010.
It is over a year now since we had to start our nightmare with cancer. Your story has inspired me as well when I see how well Mackenzie gets around. Your girl is younger than mine and seems to have more energy. Rosie is more tired.
I haven’t posted in awhile. I need to. But just wanted to let you know we enjoyed your video’s and I will try to post some pictures of Rosie now.
What happened with the lungs. Did they see anything on your girl’s lungs???
Rosie checked out okay 3 weeks ago. But now she has a new lump on her chest, it’s kind of big like size of my palm and it hurts her. !!! I’m so worried it is bad. I thought she was clear on her checkup 3 weeks ago. Now she’s developed this large distended area. I’m so tired of worrying. It’s tearing me up and hoping she will be okay. This year as you know for yourself has been so stressful with all the treatments etc…. So don’t know if this is the end or not.
Thanks for the video’s and your shirts are awesome.
Take Care,
Rosie’s Mom and Rosie!
Congratulations, Mackenzie ! Love the shirt – and the bandanas.
Wishing you many more ampuversary celebrations !
